Pamela (Bobbie)'s Story

Life I am now in a town I had no idea I would ever be living. It is my mother's home town, population of about 20,000. I lived in San Diego until the early 90's, then went to Las Vegas for 3 years and then moved here in 1998. My mom had become ill with cancer and I took care of her until she died in Jan of 2000. Since she left me her home, I decided to stay here. I lost 4 more members of my family here in 2 years. I am now retired and on disability. Living here I don't need much as all bills are paid and the cost of living is very low here. There are not a lot of things to do, but the people here are wonderful and I have found some good friends. r. I was in electronics - buying and selling - and started a women's group within the industry. When we first started in '81, there were no groups like it in California. It grew to include the top leaders in the industry and helped the women get equal pay for equal work. I am very proud of the group and what we accomplished. Many people were suprised with the attendance and we eventually allowed men to join as associates. They learned the difference in women as managers and supervisors. I have one son and three grandchildren. My dad is still with us and lives in El Dorado Hills, CA. That is close to Sacramento. My son and his family live in Easley, SC which is close to Greenville/Spartanburg.
